       中美高校图书馆合作发展论坛(Sino-American Academic Library Forum on Development and Cooperation)是由中国高校人文社会科学文献中心(CASHL)和北美中国研究图书馆员学会(SCSL)以及会议承办方所在高校联合举办的图书情报学国际学术论坛。自2011年开始,在特色资源、区域国别研究文献建设、用户服务创新等专业领域进行了深入交流和探讨,并逐步成为高校图书馆的精品学术论坛。第一届于2011年在厦门大学举办,主题为“地区研究与大学图书馆资源建设”;第二届于2013年在兰州大学举办,主题为“中国周边国家文献资源的收集、整理和共享服务”;第三届于2015年在四川大学举办,主题为“演变中的学术环境和图书馆:资源建设新方向”;第四届于2017年3月在加拿大的多伦多大学举办,主题为“高校图书馆知识服务新方向”;第五届于2019年7月在内蒙古大学举办,主题为“图书馆与社会发展”;第六届于2021年7月由中山大学图书馆承办,以在线会议的形式召开,主题为“后疫情时代高校图书馆文献与服务新方向”;第七届于2023年7月由北京大学图书馆承办,线上召开,主题为“开放学术:构建学术新生态,助推高校图书馆新发展”。
       第八届中美高校图书馆合作发展论坛将于2025年7月在中西文化交流之都中国香港举行,由香港大学图书馆承办,主题为“图书馆的文化建设”。会议包括以下5个分主题:
● 图书馆的文化传承创新。议题包括但不限于:文献整理与传承保护;数字化技术与创新发展;文化体验与文化服务。
● 图书馆服务文化建设。议题包括但不限于:图书馆资源建设;创新服务推动多元文化新发展;图书馆推动中西文化交流。
● 文化赋能图书馆发展。议题包括但不限于:多元文化保护传承与融合创新塑造图书馆新优势;特色资源如特藏和档案建设的开发与国际合作。
● 智能科技在图书馆的应用。议题包括但不限于:大数据与图书馆管理;人工智能与图书馆服务;数据安全与隐私保护。
● 新型馆员的培养。议题包括但不限于:数字素养与AI素养;跨学科知识与创新力培养;国际视野与全球合作。
 
Brief Introduction to the Conference
The Sino-American Academic Library Forum for Cooperation and Development is the international academic forum of library and information science, co-organized by China Academic Social Sciences and Humanities Libraries (CASHL), Society of Chinese Studies Librarians (SCSL), and with the joint sponsorship of the university library which hosts the forum. Since 2011, the forum has been organized to discuss and explore topics related to special and regional material resources, and it has become a high-quality academic library forum. The first forum was hosted by Xiamen University in 2011 with the theme “Regional Research and Research Libraries’ Resource Construction”. The second one was hosted by Lanzhou University in 2013 with the theme “Collection, Management and Sharing of the Resources in China’s Neighboring Nations”. The third forum was hosted by Sichuan University in 2015 with the theme “Changing Academic Environment and Libraries: New Directions in Resource Construction”. The fourth one was hosted by University of Toronto in 2017 with the theme “New Directions in Knowledge Service for University Libraries”. The fifth forum was hosted by Inner Mongolia University in 2019 with the theme “Libraries and Social Development”. The sixth one was hosted by Sun Yat-sen University in 2021 in the form of an online conference with the theme “New Direction of University Library Literature and Service in the Post-epidemic Era”. The seventh was held online by Peking University Library in July with the main theme “Open Scholarship: Build New Scholarly Ecosystem, Facilitate New Development of Academic Libraries”.
The 8th Sino-American Academic Library Forum for Cooperation and Development will take place in July 2025 in Hong Kong, a hub of Sino-Western cultural exchange, with the University of Hong Kong Libraries as the host. The forum's main theme is "Cultural Developments in Libraries." The following sub-themes will be explored:
1. Cultural Inheritance and Innovation in Libraries. Topics include, but are not limited to document organization, inheritance and preservation, digital technology and innovation, cultural experiences and cultural services, etc.
2. Cultural Development through Library Services. Topics include, but are not limited to library resource development, innovative services promoting the new development of multiculturalism, libraries facilitating Sino-Western cultural exchange, etc.
3. Cultural Empowerment in Library Development. Topics include, but are not limited to the protection, inheritance and innovative integration of multiculturalism to shape new advantages for libraries, development and international collaboration of special resources, such as rare collections and archives, etc.
4. Application of Smart Technologies in Libraries. Topics include, but are not limited to big data and library management, artificial intelligence and library services, data security and privacy protection, etc.
5. Training of New-Type Librarians. Topics include, but are not limited to digital literacy and AI literacy, development of interdisciplinary knowledge and innovation skills, international perspectives and global cooperation, etc.
